Education Act 1996
The Education Act 1996 consolidated various education statutes into a single comprehensive framework for education in England and Wales. The Act defines the structure of the education system, including the stages of education (primary, secondary, further education), the duties of local education authorities and school governors, the provisions for school admissions and exclusions, and the curriculum. The Act also established the legal framework for special educational needs (SEN) provision.
