Regulation (EU) 2022/868 on European data governance (Data Governance Act)

Overview

The Data Governance Act (DGA) creates a framework for increased data sharing across the EU by regulating re-use of public sector data, data intermediation services, and data altruism. It establishes conditions for re-use of protected public sector data, creates notification and supervision requirements for data intermediation service providers, and sets up a voluntary registration system for data altruism organizations. The DGA also establishes the European Data Innovation Board to facilitate the development of common European data spaces. Regulation (EU) 2022/868 applies from 24 September 2023.
